He started his carrier as a Research Scientist with the Institute for Plasma Research (IPR), Gandhinagar (Department of Atomic Energy, Govt. of India) in 1994 and worked for 5 years on many R&D projects. In the year 1999, he joined the Centre for Electronics Design & Technology of India, Gorakhpur as Senior Design Engineer and worked for 10 years on various design and development projects in the areas of Information, Electronics and Communication Technology (IECT).

The Government has appointed Dr V. Anantha Nageswaran as the Chief Economic Advisor and today, he has assumed charge. Prior to this appointment, Dr. Nageswaran has worked as a writer, author, teacher and consultant. He has taught at several business schools and institutes of management in India and in Singapore and has published extensively.He was the Dean of the IFMR Graduate School of Business and a distinguished Visiting Professor of Economics at Krea University. He has also been a part-time member of the Economic Advisory Council to the Prime Minister of India from 2019 to 2021. He holds a Post-Graduate Diploma in Management from the Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad and a doctoral degree from the University of Massachusetts in Amherst.

Cochin Shipyard delivers three Floating Border Out-Post vessels to BSF [28 Jan 2022]

Cochin Shipyard Limited (CSL), under the Ministry of Ports, Ships and Waterways, has successfully delivered the second lot of three Floating Border Out-Post (FBOPs) vessels to the Border Security Force. CSL has got orders for building nine such FBOPs to protect Nation’s water borders. Three more vessels are likely to be delivered in the coming months.

Indonesia names new capital that will replace Jakarta [19 Jan 2022]

Indonesia has announced that its new capital will be called Nusantara, meaning "archipelago" in Javanese. It came as parliament approved a bill to relocate the capital from Jakarta, which is rapidly sinking. The idea of building a new capital 1,300km (800 miles) away on the island of Borneo was first proposed in 2019. Jakarta has become crowded, polluted and is sinking at an alarming rate due to the over-extraction of groundwater. Home to more than 10 million people, it sits on swampy land on the large island of Java.

Ratan Tata-backed fuel-at-doorstep venture wins National Startup Award 2021 [16 Jan 2022]

Pune-based Repos Energy run by Aditi Bhosale Walunj and Chetan Walunj won National Startup Award 2021 in the Energy distribution category. Repos was one among the 150 startups that presented their recommendations at the virtual gathering that had Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Minister of Commerce and Industry Piyush Goyal in attendance. Repos, backed by former chairman of Tata Sons Ratan Tata, was recognized by the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas for its initiation of door-to-door delivery of fuel. The startup is establishing a one-stop destination to stimulate the creation and growth of energy on a doorstep-delivery business model. “By bringing the entire petrol pump on wheels, they have achieved unparalleled speed in creating new infrastructure for energy distribution,” the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade under Ministry of Commerce and Industry said in a statement.

IIIT-A director awarded Educator of the Year Award, 2021 [16 Jan 2022]

Making the city and the institution proud, the director of the Indian Institute of Information Technology, Allahabad (IIIT-A), Prof P Nagabhushan, has been conferred with the prestigious award of the IEEE Uttar Pradesh Section, a constituent organizational unit of IEEE, United States of America. IEEE has recognised Prof Nagabhushan with the Educator of the Year Award-2021, for his outstanding contributions and exemplary services in the fields of technical education and to promote IEEE at various levels. Sri Nivas Singh, the fellow IEEE, and the chairman award and recognition committee informed that the names of many reputed persons from IIT, NIT, IIIT, and other universities and institutes from Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand were considered for the award, and among them, Prof Nagabhushan was found the most appropriate on the basis of the academic, technical, and societal services offered by him to the nation.

Pierre-Olivier Gourinchas, the IMF's new chief economist [10 Jan 2022]

The IMF has announced that French economist Pierre-Olivier Gourinchas will be succeeding Gita Gopinath as the fund’s chief economist. In December 2021, Gopinath, who has served the IMF for three years, was promoted to IMF’s First Deputy Managing Director. Gourinchas will begin his part-time charge from January 24 before assuming a full role from April 1.

DRDO successfully conducts Flight-Test of Indigenous Aerial Target ‘Abhyas’ [23 Dec 2021]

DRDO successfully conducted the flight test of Indigenously developed High-speed Expendable Aerial Target (HEAT) Abhyas from Integrated Test Range (ITR), Chandipur off the coast, Odisha. During the flight trial, a High subsonic speed trajectory at a very low altitude with high endurance was demonstrated. Two boosters provided initial acceleration during launch and a small turbojet engine is used to sustain high subsonic speed with long endurance. The indigenous data link designed by Bengaluru based Industry partner has been successfully flown and tested during the flight. The performance of the system during the entire flight duration has been confirmed from the data captured by various Range instruments deployed.

DRDO conducts maiden launch of indigenously developed new generation surface-to-surface missile ‘Pralay’ [22 Dec 2021]

Defense Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) successfully conducted a maiden flight test of indigenously developed surface-to-surface missile ‘Pralay’, from Dr. A P J Abdul Kalam Island off the coast of Odisha in December 22, 2021. The mission has met all its objectives. The new missile followed the desired quasi ballistic trajectory and reached the designated target with high degree accuracy, validating the control, guidance, and mission algorithms. All the sub-systems performed satisfactorily. All the sensors deployed near the impact point across the eastern coast, including the downrange ships, tracked the missile trajectory and captured all the events. The Missile is powered by a solid propellant rocket motor and many new technologies. The missile has a range of 150-500 kilometers and can be launched from a mobile launcher. The missile guidance system includes a state-of-the-art navigation system and integrated avionics.
